Hp Scanner Not Working But Printer Is

Your Mac does not have malware, it's just got printer drivers that HP mistakenly asked Apple to block. Here's how to work around the problem.

HP Photosmart Printers - A 'Scan Problem. Try Starting Scan from Computer' Message Displays This document is for HP Photosmart B209, B210, C309, C310, C410, C5300, C5500, and C6300 All-in-One printers. Open Devices and Printers. Select any printer and then click 'Print server properties' at the top of the window. Click on the Drivers tab. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall. When trying to scan from a computer, what is displayed on the printer? Try making a copy of something from the printer itself. If that doesn't work, then the problem is with the printer itself. Contact HP Support for that. However, if it works, then it is a software issue.

Hewlett Packard has now explained the recent spate of Mac printer problems that saw users being warned of 'malware' — but it hasn't yet solved it. While HP and Apple are reportedly working together to resolve the issue, users are still being prompted with warnings saying it 'will damage your computer.'

'We unintentionally revoked credentials on some older versions of Mac drivers,' said a HP spokesperson. 'This caused a temporary disruption for those customers and we are working with Apple to restore the drivers. In the meantime, we recommend users experiencing this problem to uninstall the HP driver and use the native AirPrint driver to print to their printer.'

As previously reported, AirPrint is the answer if you need to actually print anything out. To get rid of the repeating error message, though, you may still need to take certain steps.

Scanner
  1. Go to System Preferences
  2. Click on Printers & Scanners
  3. Choose your HP printer from the Printers list on the left
  4. Click the minus sign at bottom left
  5. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Printers/hp
  6. Drag the printer driver to the trash
  7. Go back to System Preferences
  8. Click on Printers & Scanners if it doesn't open at that
  9. Click the plus sign at bottom left and re-add the printer

To go the ~/Library/Printers/hp folder, go to the Finder and choose Go, Go to folder.. from the menus. Or press Command-Shift-G.

Remove the old printer driver and then add your printer again

This will clearly delete the printer driver, but what it then does is force your Mac to download a new copy. Once you've re-added the printer, it will be using the new, updated driver and should work correctly.

These steps should fix the issue because HP has effectively undone its mistake. According to The Eclectic Light Company, the problem was that what HP asked Apple to do was revoke its security certificate for the file 'HPDeviceMonitoring.framework.' In theory, then, this can just be un-revoked.

However, The Eclectic Light Company says that at time of writing, users are still reporting what appear to be related problems. If you're in that situation, there currently seems no better alternative than contacting HP support.

Symptoms

For local printers

You upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 on a computer that has the HP Full Feature Software solution or the HP Basic Driver solution installed. Then, you notice that your HP Multifunction Printer (MFP) does not work as expected. In particular, physical buttons on the front panel of Multifunction Printer stop responding. The device is recognized correctly and is displayed as installed. However, the HP software does not start and does not report that it cannot connect to the device. Therefore, you cannot print, scan or copy.
Note If the HP Full Feature Software solution or HP Basic Driver solution is not installed before the computer upgrades to Windows 7, basic printing and scanning functionality should be present. To obtain enhanced functionality from their MFP, users can install the HP Full Feature Software solution or HP Basic Driver solution after the computer upgrades to Windows 7.
On 64-bit Windows 7-based computers, the HP Digital Imaging monitor cannot start and the icon does not appear in the notification area. Additionally, when you try to start HP Solution Center, you receive the following error message:

To fix these issues, apply the update that is described in this article.

For networked printers

Shared printers and network printers experience the issues that are described for local printers. The issues occur when you connect printers to a local computer that has HP Solution Center installed and then you upgrade the computer to Windows 7.

  • If the HP MFP is physically connected to and shared from a computer that is not running Windows 7 and other computers are connected to that printer, only Windows 7 computers that upgrade from Vista and that have the HP Full Feature Software solution or HP Basic Driver solution installed before upgrading to Windows 7 are affected.

  • If the HP MFP is physically connected to and shared from a Windows 7 computer that upgrades from Windows Vista and that have the HP Full Feature Software solution or HP Basic Driver solution installed before upgrading to Windows 7, all computers that are connected to that shared printer are affected.

Networked printers may experience the following additional symptoms:

  • Printing works from applications, but no HP Solution Center functionality (for example, checking the ink status) can communicate with the printer.
    Messenger new 2018.

  • Scanning does not work at all because it uses the special HP services for scanning. X plane sound blogspot.

To fix these issues, apply the update that is described in this article. Additionally, download and install the appropriate HP device software for Windows 7 from http://www.HP.com.

Cause

This issue occurs because required libraries are not migrated from Windows Vista to Windows 7. Without the required libraries, software cannot communicate with the multifunction device. Attempts to uninstall or reinstall the HP software do not resolve the issue.
